1932

Our law firm was founded in 1932 by Raymond B. Mallard.

1951

Frank McGougan, Jr. joined Raymond B. Mallard in 1951, and together they practiced law for several years before Raymond B. Mallard became a Superior Court Judge in 1954. Later, he became Chief Judge of the North Carolina Court of Appeals in 1968.

1971

Richard Wright, Jr. joined the firm in 1971, practicing law with D. Frank McGougan, Jr. The firm name was changed to McGougan and Wright in 1971.

1981

Dennis T. Worley joined the firm in 1981, practicing law with D. Frank McGougan, Jr. and O. Richard Wright, Jr. The firm name was changed to McGougan, Wright & Worley, LLP on December 30, 1983.

1992

In 1992, O. Richard Wright, Jr. and Dennis T. Worley opened an office in Whiteville, North Carolina. Around this time, D. Frank McGougan, Jr. discontinued the active practice of law.

1994

D. Frank McGougan, Jr. passed away on March 20, 1994.

1999

Paul J. Ekster joined the firm in August 1999.

2001

In May 2001, Kenneth R. Moss opened up the firm office in Little River, South Carolina, after having practiced law for several years in other capacities.

2011

On January 3, 2011, O. Richard Wright, Jr., Dennis T. Worley, Kenneth R. Moss, and Paul J. Ekster formed Wright, Worley, Moss & Ekster, PLLC.

2011

In May 2011, Harold “Butch” Pope merged his long-time practice with Wright, Worley, Moss & Ekster, PLLC, and they all formed Wright, Worley, Pope, Ekster & Moss, PLLC.

2013

In 2013, the firm added a second generation attorneys in Boyd Tyler Worley.

Since this time, with the help of excellent attorneys to form a team 14 lawyers strong, Wright, Worley, Pope, Ekster & Moss, PLLC has over 295 years of combined legal experience and is your Full Service Local Legal Team in North and South Carolina!
