What Is a Settlement Package?
A settlement package is sent off to the insurance company in an attempt to resolve your case. The settlement package should include your medical bills and records, a copy of the accident report, copies of any photographs depicting property damage or personal injuries, and any other information on damages you have sustained.
It is very important that you take photographs immediately after the accident of any bodily injuries and property damage to the vehicle in that if this case were to come to trial in several years, it is difficult to explain the damage to a car or physical problems that you had during the time. As they say, a picture speaks a thousand words.
If an insurance company makes any settlement offer, your lawyer is ethically obligated to discuss the same with you. They should then make a recommendation as to whether or not they think it is a good settlement offer or a bad one. Your lawyer needs to have the experience to know whether the offer is good or bad. That experience can only be obtained from handling these types of cases from start to finish and trying cases such as these.
The ultimate decision as to whether or not to accept an offer is up to you. It is always your case. There is no set rule for how much money you should receive and one case is always completely different from another. Therefore, you cannot compare one case to another.
